"Performances are our last, precious bastion of democracy. I'm honored and excited by this opportunity to exercise what I believe is one of the greatest gifts of democracy: our right to assemble, and protest." – DBR

On October 24, 2019, Daniel Roumain performed for an entire 24-hour period in front of City Hall in Burlington, Vermont. As the son of Haitian immigrants, he protested discriminatory immigration laws in the U.S. He invited local participants to join him by signing up for 30-minute intervals with the Flynn Center. The entirety of the protest was streamed on Facebook Live, connecting virtually with people across the country who cheered him on.

Participants included a youth choir, local musicians, vocalists and movement artists. Presented in partnership with The Flynn Center and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra.
