DBR Lab: Spring 2023
DBR Lab returned to National Sawdust on April 2, 2023, to present cross-disciplinary talent by six emerging artists from Arizona State University. Original projects explore movement, digital media, music, and spoken word. Featuring special guests Jeff McMahon (writer/actor), Melanie Holm (soprano/dancer), Earl Maneein (violinist), Laura Metcalf (violinist) and Jonathan Weber (violinist). The class was facilitated by Daniel Bernard Roumain, managed by Malena Grosz, and supported by Arts Management Fellow, Lane Swenson. Portraits and Living Headshot films were produced and edited by Keegan Carlson.

Addison Hill (she/they) is a composer, artist, and musician from Phoenix, Arizona. Her works are a colorful, messy, and vulnerable collage of her identity and viewpoint of the world

Julio-Cesar Sauceda is a multidisciplinary artist working in theatre and film as a writer, actor and director.
Fear - In this one-person performance, Julio-Cesar examines how fear exists in his own body and how has been taught to face his own fears.

Alecea Housworth is an African American artist in dance and storytelling. Her creative practice centers on social justice and shedding light on issues in our country’s previous and current state, in hopes to encourage forward-thinking and promote change.

Kara Piatt is an orchestral conductor who is passionate about bringing classical music back to large audiences around the world through shared experiences of music-making, collaborating, and learning.

DEAN SAIFULLIN
MFA: Dance (Interdisciplinary Digital Media and Performance)
Dean Saifullin is a dancer, educator, and multidisciplinary artist. He is pursuing an MFA in Dance degree at ASU. His research focus is the exploration of mind-body connection and beyond through interdisciplinarity.

LANE SWENSON
MFA: Dance
Lane Swenson (Arts Management Fellow) Lane Swenson is an artist, educator, research scholar and current MFA in Dance student. He specializes in Ballroom dance and aspires to continue to develop research in the form. He is currently serving as the Arts Management Fellow for the DBR Lab.
Lane served as the first Arts Management Fellow for the DBR Lab in Spring 2023, mentoring under Managing Director, Malena Grosz to support grant writing, funding, travel, and other logistics. He also served as the ASM (Assistant Stage Manager) for the National Sawdust performance.
